Casinacho Games

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Casinacho Games is a little bundle of short, colourful challenges wrapped in a hand-drawn theme park kind of setting. You tap through a map of cartoon stalls, and each one opens a different tiny game — reaction tests, timing taps, pattern matching, that sort of thing. It's the kind of app you open while waiting for the kettle to boil, and then suddenly it's fifteen minutes later.

The controls are about as simple as it gets: single taps, the occasional swipe, nothing that needs two hands or precise aim. What surprised me was the polish. Animations have a nice bounce to them, the little mascot reacts to how you're doing, and there's a soft chiptune soundtrack that loops without getting annoying. It runs fine on an old phone, too, which matters for this kind of casual pick-up play.

It won't hold your attention for a whole evening, and the variety thins out after a while. But as a snack-sized time-filler with a genuinely friendly presentation, it does its one job well. I kept coming back to beat my own timing records more than I expected.
